This week on Celebrity Skincare from MAS, we are talking about Jennifer Aniston. Who wouldn’t want to know her secrets for maintaining her ageless, sun-goddess looks?
Our “Pretty Practitioners” are back and breaking down their thoughts about how our favorite “Friend” keeps giving great face at forty (plus) years young!
Keep Reading to find out what they have to say about Jen…
Even with access to every product and procedure possible, Jennifer believes in just three tips for maintaining her complexion:
- Drink plenty of water! I’m sure that it doesn’t hurt to be the spokeswoman for Smart Water, but I also suggest that my clients sip at least one liter a day. Hydrated skin looks supple and helps to keep you feeling more energized throughout the day.
- Eat a healthy diet! Eating a diet full of colorful fruits and vegetables provides your skin with antioxidants for anti-aging power from the inside out. Whole grains, lean protein, and avoiding processed junk will also help to keep your body in shape to keep stretch marks and sagging skin away as well.
- Keep it clean (your face, that is)! Jennifer washes her face both morning and night with Neutrogena’s transparent facial bar ($2.69, buy.com). This is the same product that she has been using since high school! Sometimes, keeping it simple is just what we need to do.
While I definitely agree with Jennifer’s tips, I would add a few things to keep her looking flawless. Adding a toner to her morning routine to help reduce pores and prevent wrinkles. Toners with glycolic acid (at least 5%) are ideal because glycolic acid will help to smooth fine lines and minimize her pores (two major signs of young skin!). DDF 10% Glycolic Toner ($35, drugstore.com) is one of my go-t0 toners, especially for women of a “certain age”.
Moisture is the key to keep your skin soft and hydrated, and I would suggest that Jen starts thinking about adding some moisturizers to her routine as well. I love bareMinerals newly revamped skin care line, especially their Purely Nourishing Moisturizer ($28, bareescentuals.com). We also love Vivite’s Night Renewal Facial Cream (which is available in our office!) and I would also recommend our signature MAS Magnifique Facial once a month, to amp up her new routine. Besides, who doesn’t love a good facial?!
I am consistently amazed at how good Jen looks, especially her skin. The main reason for my surprise?
She still smokes!
Jen needs to quit. Flat out. Smoking ages skin, dulls your complexion, and causes wrinkles galore. Besides, as a director for Lifetime’s upcoming series dealing with women battling cancer, I think she ought set a better example of how to be good to your body!
One of the things that I think makes Jen so appealing is her perma-glow. She always looks like she just returned from a yoga retreat in Bali or from a day out on the ocean. Jen’s piercing blue eyes, honey-hair, and bright Cali smile all afford her the luxury of always pulling off a natural look with her makeup.
A hydrating foundation such as Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup ($46, sephora.com), offers coverage for any sun spots and fine lines she may have and it has an SPF of 10. Some healthy flush to her cheeks will bring out her eyes and give her a youthful touch. Bare Minerals blush in Vintage Peach by bareEscentuals ($18, ulta.com), is easy to layer and has a tiny hint of natural shimmer as well.
Finishing her skin up with a sweep of bronzer will keep her skin a beach-bum bronze without exposing her to any more cancer causing elements (quit smoking, Jen!). I am a loyalist to NARS line of bronzers ( $33, narscosmetic.com). They add that last bit of coverage for a flawless, warm glow, especially when applied with a fluffy, big brush.
Jens’s skin is incredibly wrinkle-free for her age, and there’s no doubt that a good skincare regimen, top quality makeup, and an occasional airbrushing play a role in keeping a fine line or two out of the public eye. There’s also no doubt that Botox is part of Jen’s beauty program, and with skin like hers, I would say that she’s been getting it for a while. Preventative Botox Therapy (PBT) is the next wave in world of injectibles… Botox to prevent wrinkles before they become permanent fixtures in the skin. Once a wrinkle sets into the skin’s surface, Botox won’t make it go away completely. But, if you start Botox before the wrinkles set it, there’s a very good chance that you won’t see a real wrinkle for a very long time!
