The mighty açaí berry. Is there nothing it can’t do?
It seems like Mother Nature specifically engineered this überfruit to help erase the effects of stress and keep skin looking smooth, young, and firm from the inside out.
Keep reading to find out why you need to try açaí!
Every day, your skin cells are being damaged by oxidative stress as the result of being exposed to pollution, UV rays, and especially from poor nutrition. This damage can be interrupted by antioxidant compounds found in açaí berries and many other brightly-pigmented fruits and vegetables.
We recommend you maintain a healthy diet consisting of a variety of different fruits and veggies similar to the açaí berry. Consider eating Goji berries, dried red beans, and blueberries. All of these are also known to be great sources of antioxidants.
The natural, raw form of açaí will pack the most power into your diet. The fruit is also available as a juice, in powder form, and even in topical preparations. All of these include some of the beneficial compounds of the berry, but try to purchase products that are as close to being a whole food source as possible.
You can add açaí to your menu by using it in shakes or eating the dried berries as a snack. Start with this simple recipe from antioxidant-fruits.com:
Acai Energy Bowl
- 8 oz. Açaí puree
- 8 whole strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup soy milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granola
- 1/2 cup fresh berries or seasonal fruit
Directions: In a blender, puree açaí, strawberries, yogurt, soy milk, and vanilla for 1 minute, until smooth. Pour into a bowl and top with granola and fruit. Serve chilled.
Starting good nutrition habits now will keep you looking younger for years to come.
Be your “berry” best and try some açaí!
