Choose a Foundation With Sunscreen to Get “Made in The Shade”

After the long winter hiatus, the warm weather this weekend had me suddenly spending the whole day out and about in the sun. While I was pleased with myself for remembering to layer my moisturizer with sunscreen, I was even happier to have a final layer of SPF in my foundation.

Back in the day, foundation used to be a thick cakey mask that you’d see on your Aunt Edna, but these days, you can find all sorts of makeup that seamlessly blends to your skin for a youthful and picture-perfect effect. Why not take it one step further and choose a brand with built-in SPF to help you FightFineLines all day long?

After washing and toning your skin each morning, blend in any prescription skin meds first, then add your moisturizer, and follow with your favorite sunscreen (at least SPF 15!). We think Anthelios 45 for Face by La Roche-Posay is great! After letting these layers settle in, you’re ready for a flawless finish with SPF foundation. Here are some of our favorites:

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup,SPF, sunscreen, foundation

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup (SPF 20)

If you’re one of those lucky girls who just needs a quick cover to achieve complexion-perfection, a light liquid such as Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup with SPF 20 should do the trick. 20 shades offer a blend for every skin tone, and it’s a bargain at $11.99 from ulta.com.

bareMinerals matte foundation, SPF, makeup

Bare Escentuals Matte Foundation (SPF 15)

Bare Escentuals line of BareMinerals Matte SPF 15 Foundation is a perfect powder for layering to achieve your desired  level of coverage. It’s great for sensitive skin and has a  gorgeous satiny finish ($25, bareescentuals.com).

Laura Mercier Oil-free Tinted Moisturizer (SPF 20)

Laura Mercier, beautyLaura Mercier’s Oil-free Tinted Moisturizer, ($42,lauramercier.com), is perfect if you’re prone to breakouts or oily skin. The lightweight formula can ,again, be layered to achieve desired coverage, and it is also a good pick for sensitive skin as well. This is perfect for those oppressively humid and hot days when we all look just a tad too shiny and slick!

Ladies, don’t get caught without cover when you can’t find any shade. A little extra SPF is a strong foundation for every Line Fighter.
