This week we can’t help but to feature the most influential and beautiful woman on television for the past two decades: Oprah Winfrey.
Through the years we have laughed, cried, and been truly inspired by her visionary media style which managed to unify viewers of every walk of life. From superstar guest appearances, to mind-blowing giveaways, to a seeming ocean of benevolence has washed the world over, O has made us laugh, cry, and best of all, to want to be better people to each other every day.
We here at MAS thank Oprah for tips, tricks of the trade, and some of the best beauty and skin care advice that we’ve tuned in for as long as we can remember!
Shea, our A.P.A. (Aesthetic Physician’s Assistant), says…
For the past year, Oprah has been using skin care products by Beverly Hills Dermatologist Dr. Harold Lancer. In fact, because of how much she likes these products, she convinced Dr. Lancer to expand his products and sell them to people other than his own patients. Of course, Dr Lancer agreed (who would say No to Oprah), and many of his products are now being sold at Nordstrom.
Dr Lancer’s philosophy is to Polish, Clean, Nourish, which are important components for any skincare routine. Most of Dr Lancer’s products have a hyaluronic-acid base, a key ingredient for keeping skin looking radiant and smooth. Dr Lancer suggests using the Skin-Resurfacing Polish, the Cleanser Cleanse, and the day/night Nourishment Cream. Coincidently, not only are these Oprah’s favorites, but they are also his most popular! Dr Lancer also suggests Placenta Hydration Facials for his patients (whether or not Oprah is among these clients, its hard to say). Bottom line, Dr Lancer’s products are obviously doing their job to keep Oprah’s skin looking flawless.
Karin, our BB (Beauty Blogger), says…
Oh Oprah! I can’t imagine 4 o’clock without you!
There are very few people in the world whose inner beauty radiates quite the way that Ms Winfrey’s does. Generosity, compassion, wit, and a genuine zest for life are what truly make her so stunning. Of course, flawless skin, lush lashes, and extra glam eyes all help too!
We can’t all have Reggie Wells pop in every morning with his magic bag of beauty, but we can certainly follow some of his top notch tips. The trick to flawless skin is even tone and smooth texture. As we age, our skin starts to lose some of it’s natural moisture and elasticity. For “women of a certain age”, I find it’s ideal to use a primer such as Laura Mercier’s, ($30, sephora.com) to help your makeup glide on by providing just the right amount of hydration on the skin.
Reggie’s biggest rule to follow is to blend, blend, blend!
Slightly more mature skin needs a bit more coverage to create a veil over discoloration from sun damage and aging. You also need to keep up the hydration without being too heavy or greasy. Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX, ($38, smashbox.com), is oil free, has SPF 15, and manages to moisturize all day long. Perfect for a day in the office or even a day on set!
Oprah’s other signature look is her dramatic doe-eyes. Don’t be afraid to get a little smoky even in the day time. Darker browns, greys, and even violets translate like accessories when applied with a quality brush and a little skill yes you can!). Good brushes are a makeup-maven’s best friend and they don’t have to break the bank. Sonia Kashuk has a 6 piece Core Brush Set for $9.99 at Target. Top those peepers off with a fabulous set of false lashes and you’ll be ready to walk the Miracle Mile with the best of ’em.
Can’t wait to see an even bigger, brighter, more beautiful future as Oprah soars to new heights on her O-wn new endeavors! Congratulations!!!
Dr. V, our Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon, says…
There’s not much Oprah can improve in her life. She’s one of the most successful business women of all time. She’s touched the lives of just about everyone in some way or another. And her look seems to be timeless in spite of all the stress that must go along with an ultra-high-profile life like hers!
Her skin is standing the test of time extremely well. There are no wrinkles or crow’s feet in site (yay for Botox!), her eyes are awake and bright, her lips are plump and youthful, and her neck and jawline are tight and defined.
My advice to Oprah would be to keep doing what she’s doing! If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!
How often do you hear a plastic surgeon say that? :)
