With “cold season” officially upon us, we all know the wonders that a dose of Vitamin C can do for our “insides”. What you may not know is that this vital vitamin can prove just as powerful for our “outsides” as well!
Vitamin C is one of the most powerful anti-oxidants. When used topically , it can firm, lighten, and brighten your skin. Since Vitamin C is one of the most essential substances in the skin, it is also believed to boost collagen production.
Read on to find out what you need to know about this powerhouse and to “C” my suggestions for the best Vitamin C serums that really work!
Vitamin C’s Vitals
Getting Vitamin C into the skin takes work!
In fact, up until recently it was difficult for the cosmeceutical industry to get Vitamin C to penetrate the dermis. There are three parts to a Vitamin C molecule, so the molecule needs to be spun down to only the part that “works”, otherwise the Vitamin C may cause irritation or be ineffective. L-ascorbic acid, is the wonder that works and is what you should be looking for in the product you choose.
A “C”-rious Serum
I recommend using a clinical strength Vitamin C product for faster results with little to no irritation. My favorite is Super Serum by I.S. Clinical, ($130.00,beautystoredepot.com). Super Serum is proven to lighten, brighten, and firm the skin. Remember, you get what you pay for. In this case, that’s a powerful dose of 15% L- ascorbic Acid in a time release formula which really gets you your money’s worth. Another good choice is Skin Medica’s Vitamin C+E Complex, ($90, skinmedica.com).
With daily use, you should start to see results within a month. Your skin should continue to improve over time. Of course, eating a healthy diet full of antioxidant rich foods always does wonders for your skin too, but you will only absorb about one percent of any Vitamin C you ingest.
Finding a good Vitamin C product is easy! All you have to do is visit me, at The Stevens Institute
For those of you who aren’t on the Golden Coast, you can visit your favorite plastic surgeon or dermatologist for the same special treatment.
Vitamin C will help you fight off those colds and to Fight Fine Lines too! This is one time that beauty being skin deep is just fine!
